About The Fuel Pulse

Real-time diesel, petrol 95, and petrol 98 prices across Latvia's major fuel networks — updated automatically, three times a day.

What We Do

The Fuel Pulse tracks retail fuel prices at the pump across Latvia's four major fuel station chains — Circle K, Virši, Neste, and Girteka / Oksana. Prices are scraped directly from each retailer's public pricing pages and aggregated into a single dashboard.

On top of raw prices, our AI analysis layer (powered by Google Gemini) reviews current global oil market news and issues a daily fill-up recommendation — buy now, wait, or monitor — with a plain-language explanation of the key price drivers.

Data Sources & Methodology

  • Station prices — Station prices — scraped directly from each retailer's public-facing website, three times daily (08:00, 14:00, 20:00 Riga time).
  • Market news — Market news — aggregated from Google News RSS feeds filtered for Latvian and Baltic fuel market stories.
  • Historical data — Historical data — stored as daily averages, enabling trend charts going back months.
  • AI recommendation — AI recommendation — generated by Google Gemini, which reads today's news headlines alongside current station prices to assess short-term price direction.

Prices reflect the rates publicly posted by each retailer and may differ slightly from the price you see at the pump due to local promotions or card discounts.

Update Frequency

Price data, market news, and AI recommendations are refreshed automatically at 08:00, 14:00, and 20:00 Riga time every day via a scheduled GitHub Actions pipeline. The timestamp shown on the dashboard always reflects the last completed data run.

Why Trust This Data?

Unlike manually-maintained price comparison sites, The Fuel Pulse has no human editorial step between the retailer's website and what you see on screen. Our scraper reads prices from the same URLs you would visit yourself — there is no rounding, no delay, and no incentive to misrepresent figures.

Every data point is timestamped and the full price history is stored, so you can see exactly when prices changed and by how much. The AI recommendation clearly states its confidence level and cites the news sources it used — you are never asked to trust a black box.
